Session 2: “Who are your characters?”

This week, the course shows you how to develop characters in your writing, by looking at political figures from history. We will:

- Work out how to create interesting characters for your play
- Find out how to turn real life politicians into good dramatic characters
- Understand why it’s important for characters in your play to have goals and obstacles

This week’s extract is from London Road, book and lyrics by Alecky Blythe, music and lyrics by Adam Cork. The audio recording is the original cast recording from London Road.

Playwrights talk about making characters in this week’s film, explaining some of the different techniques they try to find a character’s voice or their motives.
